Thank you for supporting the 2016 Lax Lecture! Check back in Winter 2017 for more information about the 2017 Lax Lecture.
Join us for this free scientific lecture on innovations in HIV/AIDS research, treatment, and prevention, held each year in memory of leading AIDS activist Jonathan Lax.
The 2016 Lax Lecturer was Dr. James Hoxie of the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2016, FIGHT and the Wistar Institute honor Dr. James Hoxie’s research contributions as well as his leadership tenure directing the University of Pennsylvania Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) since its award in 1999.
Dr. Hoxie’s research focuses on viral and cellular aspects of HIV and SIV entry into cells, HIV/SIV pathogenesis, mechanisms of viral resistance to host immune responses, and neutralizing antibodies.
He has successfully led the UPenn CFAR through 4 competitive renewal cycles and fostered extraordinary collaborations that have led to a sustained growth in HIV Research and global impact from work performed under the UPenn CFAR network.
This event is one of the only AIDS Education Month Events that is available by invitation only. For more information on how to get a seat at this year’s Lax Lecture, check the AIDS Education Month website in the coming weeks and months.
